Ladies Evening Festival

Ladies Evening Festival

The first Ladies Evening was held during Coronation week in June 1953, we now celebrate this event annually on the 2nd Saturday in December.

The Junior Brethren still keep the tradition of decorating the Masonic Hall in readiness for Christmas.

On the second Saturday December 1990 inclement weather forced Ladies Evening to be cancelled. The City came to a standstill, all roads and rail lines were blocked and flights from Birmingham Airport were grounded.

The event was re-arranged by Bro. Peter O'Shaughnessy the Ladies Evening Festival Secretary on the Saturday between Christmas and New Year ensuring that W.Bro. Bill Edwards and Jean had a wonderful evening: thanks to the help received from caterers Pattison & Hughes and also from Mr. & Mrs. Peter Curran caretakers at the Masonic Centre.
